Tasty tips for fussy kids this Half Term

Monday 10 February 2020

Every parent dreams about a stress-free family dinner, but it’s never that easy when your children are fussy eaters. This February half term, let us help you introduce them to how exciting food can be - they'll be helping you in the kitchen in no time!

Whether you're persuading them to try their vegetables, or dealing with a toddler who will only enjoy dessert, our tips and tricks are here to help you over the half-term break (starts 15 February), ensuring the whole family get excited about meal time!

1. GET THEM IN THE KITCHEN

Let the little ones hone in their cooking skills, and start making food a hobby rather than a chore. While school is on a break it's the perfect time to get in the kitchen. Kids are more likely to eat what they’ve had a hand in creating in their food, so whether that’s peeling veg, stirring bowls or plating up, get the whole bunch involved!

Why not treat them to their very own pizza masterclass at Bread Street Kitchen? The perfect family friendly Sunday brunch experience, where you can enjoy champagne brunch whilst the children accompany our chefs to learn how to make delicious pizzas!

2. MAKE FOOD FUN

Get children to sample new foods by getting creative with how you dish up your meals. An easy win is utilising a biscuit or cookie cutter when serving sandwiches or fruit, or simply arranging meals into fun shapes on their plate. There’s nothing wrong with smiley faces arranged by vegetables!

3. SWAP SWEET TREATS FOR HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES

What if you could swap traditional unhealthy meals and snacks for nutritious alternatives the whole family can enjoy? With a little help from Gordon Ramsay’s new book Ultimate Fit Food, there are plenty of opportunities to make healthy recipe swaps that even the fussiest of eaters will devour, including chocolate and avocado mousse, spring green wraps and banana and apple crisps!
