Thursday 16 March 2017

This March, Union Street Café, Gordon Ramsay’s urban restaurant specialising in Italian artisan foods will transform its industrial basement bar into an authentic Olive Grove. From Thursday 16th March, Londoner’s will be instantly transported to a rustic Italian scene to enjoy a unique and immersive drinking and dining experience.

Visitors to the Olive Grove will drink and dine under a canopy of olive trees and vines. Sunlight will appear to trickle down through the greenery above whilst guests experience the sights, tastes and smells of an Italian summer’s day.

In partnership with Martini, the world’s leading vermouth brand famed as the perfect Italian aperitivo, an experimental bar menu has been created by Davide Gagliazzo, Bar Manager at Union Street Café, who has used different types of olive oil within each Martini cocktail featured. On arrival, guests will be educated on the different taste profiles of the various olive oils, before being directed to specific cocktails that appeal to their taste buds. The menu includes the ‘Olive Sour’ with Martini Ambrato, olive oil, Bombay Sapphire Gin and egg white; and ‘The Cioccoliato’ with Bacardi, Martini Dry, olive oil, chocolate liqueur and mint.

Union Street Café’s Head Chef, Davide Degiovanni, has created an exciting bar food menu in homage to the olive, each dish perfectly paired to an olive oil cocktail. Dishes include;

- ‘Bufala’ - Buffalo mozzarella mousse with pane fritto and dried olives
- ‘Crudo’ - Sea bream tartar with Cerignola olives, lemon and wild fennel
- ‘Sorbetto’ - Olive oil, lemon and sage sorbet with dried capers

On Sundays, the Olive Grove cocktail menu will be available in the main restaurant alongside a special ‘Mangia e bevi’ Sunday menu of sharing dishes true to the nature of a classic Italian dinner of family and friends, as well as a large sharing lasagne for guests to while the day away.
