3 Must-Visit Restaurants for a Stroll Along the River Thames
Tuesday 6 May 2025

Spring is back, and with it comes longer days, sunnier skies, and every excuse to get outside. There’s no better way to soak it all up than with a riverside stroll through London, where the Thames winds past some of the city’s best sights and riverside restaurants. From a leisurely breakfast to a delicious roast or a laid-back lunch by the River Thames, these three spots make the perfect companions for your spring day out.
Start your day in the heart of Central London with a luxurious breakfast at The River Restaurant, located within the Savoy Hotel. Why not enjoy a classic breakfast dish, like the Quintessentially British Breakfast or the Arnold Bennett Omelette. Paired with a coffee, beautifully blended tea, or fresh juice, it’s the ideal way to begin your day out in the big smoke. Or perhaps you’d like something slightly stronger, in which case, the selection of champagnes and breakfast tipples will hit the spot.
After fuelling up for the day, fill the rest of your morning by getting a dose of art and culture. While you’re spoiled for choice, nearby are the art-adorned corridors and galleries at Somerset House, or you can head across the river to BFI Southbank and catch a film.
A morning this busy is enough to work up an appetite, so it’s time for the next restaurant stop. Bread Street Kitchen & Bar Southwark is a relaxing spot just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of Waterloo Station and is great for a quick pick-me-up.
Try the Beer Battered Cod Bites, Traditional Scotch Egg, or Beef Meatballs. Or for something slightly more substantial for the walk ahead, opt for the BSK Burger or Chickpea and Courgette Tikka Masala.
With the second food pit stop complete, it’s time to continue your riverside walk. As you go east along the River Thames, take in fabulous views of the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and the imposing Canary Wharf skyline in the distance.
The Thames Path takes you straight to Bread Street Kitchen & Bar Limehouse, the last location on our restaurant tour. With unbeatable sweeping views across the Thames and a stunning conservatory, it’s the perfect place to reward yourself.
Dine from our à la carte menu, or if you’re visiting on a Sunday, a three-course meal from the Sunday set menu is the perfect way to end your day. Choose from a selection of classic BSK starters, a succulent roast as your main, round it off with a delicious dessert, and toast to an ultimate day spent enjoying great food and roaming around London.
