Some things are made to last. Others are made to be savoured. At Restaurant 1890, we’ve always believed the finest things sit somewhere between the two.

This summer, in collaboration with the renowned British jewellers, we present The Boodles Palace Collection: five bespoke cocktails that draw on the same principles as extraordinary jewellery. Precision, layering, and the patience to let something rare take shape.

Inspired by Boodles’ Palace Collection, each pour is a celebration of heritage and craftsmanship, interpreted through a contemporary lens and served inside one of London’s most intimate bar spaces. Bar 1890 was always a fitting home for something this considered.

A Closer Look at the Cocktails

AFTER DARK

Bringing Hampton Court’s mythical Royal Beasts to life — carved in black onyx, white opal and sapphire, imagined leaping through the palace gardens long after the last visitors have gone — remains one of the most demanding feats in Boodles’ history. After Dark, part of the Golden Hour Collection at Restaurant 1890, carries that same brooding intensity: deep pine‑infused gin layered beneath a crowned dark‑berry foam of Cassis and Mûre. It’s the boldest cocktail in the collection, crafted for the moment the evening shifts and the room takes on its own quiet drama.

QUEEN ANNE’S MURAL

Queen Anne’s Mural blends blood orange gin with mandarin, brightened by bergamot and the stone‑fruit sweetness of house‑made peach cordial. St‑Germain elderflower and rosé wine tie everything together, creating a layered, colour‑rich cocktail in the Golden Hour Collection at Restaurant 1890 — crafted with the same precision and artistry that inspired its namesake mural.

QUEEN CHARLOTTE’S COTTAGE

Queen Charlotte’s Cottage is a refreshing blend of three tequilas, lifted by Seatrus bitter cedro and the soft sweetness of pea and geranium syrup. Melonade and fresh cucumber keep the serve light and bright, while lime adds a clean, zesty finish. Part of the Golden Hour Collection at Restaurant 1890, it’s a cocktail shaped with the same precision and layered craftsmanship that inspired its namesake retreat.

GREAT VINE

Every branch and grape of Hampton Court’s Great Vine — the largest in the world — has been reimagined by Boodles in gold leaf, peridot and pink tourmaline, its satin finish chosen to mirror the vine’s natural texture. Great Vine, part of the Golden Hour Collection at Restaurant 1890, reflects that same precision in the glass: Absolut Elyx blended with milk‑clarified grape juice for crystalline clarity, verjus for a sharp, vine‑fresh tension, and sparkling grape and apricot soda for a luminous close. A cocktail as considered and crafted as the jewellery that inspired it.

ROYAL DAMASK

(Non-Alcoholic)

Royal Damask brings together Seedlip Garden 108 with fragrant lavender and delicate elderflower, creating a non‑alcoholic serve that feels as crafted as any in the Golden Hour Collection at Restaurant 1890. Blue curaçao syrup adds vivid citrus warmth, while lime cordial and fresh lime juice bring a bright, clean lift. Rue berry cordial deepens the fruit, and a gentle soda finish ties everything together. A vibrant, layered cocktail designed to shine without alcohol — and to honour the same precision and artistry that define the collection.
