Meet Chef Kim Ratcharoen

Chef de Cuisine at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay

Kim’s passion for cooking began in her hometown of Surat Thani, Thailand, learning alongside her grandmother and developing a deep appreciation for the flavours and traditions of home-cooked food. In 2006, she moved to the UK to study Economics and Hospitality, but her true calling soon drew her back to the kitchen.

 

In 2015, Kim joined the world-renowned Restaurant Gordon Ramsay as an apprentice. Her dedication, creativity, and technical skill quickly distinguished her, and after years of honing her craft, she was appointed Chef de Cuisine in 2025. Under her leadership, the restaurant celebrated its 25th consecutive year holding three Michelin stars, while she guided a talented brigade and brought her signature innovation to the acclaimed menu.

 

Kim has also showcased her culinary artistry to a national audience as a contestant on The Great British Menu (Series 16) in 2021, competing among the UK’s top chefs and cementing her reputation as one of modern gastronomy’s most dynamic talents.

Q: Away from the kitchen, what personal experiences or values have most shaped who you are today?

 

A: My grandmother taught me to be strong-willed and to approach life with commitment and strength. She believed that nothing is impossible in life if you are willing to commit to challenges presented to you. That mindset has stayed with me and continues to influence how I work, lead, and push myself every day. 

 

 

 

Q: How would you describe your cooking philosophy now, and how has it evolved over the course of your career?

 

A: My cooking philosophy today is rooted in precision, discipline, and balance. Working at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay has reinforced the importance of impeccable standards, consistency, and attention to detail.
