Festive Set Menu

Our festive set menu is built for exactly those moments. Start light with yellowfin tuna tartar, shiso, and pickled mooli, or smoked salmon with salt-baked beetroot, sharp with horseradish. Move onto something richer with dry-aged fillet with smoked bone marrow bearnaise, or braised ox cheek finished with poached oyster. Finish sweet with sticky toffee pudding, glossed with fior di latte, or go savoury with a board of aged Beaufort, quince and grapes.​

The festive set menu starts at £42* per person for two courses. Available weekdays from 12pm to 6:30pm for up to 6 guests throughout the festive period.​

Christmas Day Menu

At The River Restaurant, Christmas Day is given all the time it deserves. Chef’s canapés set the scene – Oscietra caviar and whipped horseradish, pork belly and cranberry croquetas, aged Comté gougères – then take your pick of a rich duck liver roulade with fig chutney, or a delicate salmon ballotine with heritage beetroot. For main, choose from a treacle-glazed Norfolk turkey crown with all the trimmings, or a roasted halibut in glossy sauce vin jaune with chanterelles. A lemon and thyme mousse follows, light and citrus-bright, before your final choice: a mature cheese selection, sticky date sponge, or a decadent Grand Marnier-soaked trifle.

Consider this your invitation to do very little, very well: settle in, raise a glass, and leave every last detail to us.

New Year's Eve Menu

Some nights ask for nothing but the best – and the last of the year is one of them. Our New Year’s Eve menu begins with Oscietra caviar and truffled Comté gougères, followed by plump oysters dressed with smoked cucumber and clementine. Choose between Smokin’ Brothers smoked salmon with a sharp beetroot purée, or a beef tartare with oyster emulsion – then a salmon Wellington, wrapped around velvety lobster and scallop mousse, or a seared fillet of venison with a rich, braised haunch and pickled blackberries. A grape compote in Champagne cream clears the way for dessert: a chocolate délice with poached cherry, or a bold, well-aged cheese selection.
