Easter Activities for Adults

Friday 5 April 2019

Easter in London can often seem like a special time just for children – but with a 4-day bank holiday on the horizon we think it’s a great time for adults to celebrate this fine city too! There are lots of things going on that adults can get involved in this bank holiday – here are a few of our favourites.

Easter Weekend Services

If you’re looking to celebrate Easter in its traditional sense, then there are lots of fantastic services at churches and cathedrals across London. Two of the biggest are at St Pauls Cathedral in The City, a short walk from Bread Street Kitchen, and St Martin in the Fields just off Strand and near to the Savoy Grill. There are multiple services going on at both locations across Easter weekend so check their websites for more information.

Dead Drop Chocolate Run

On Saturday 20 April, head to Green Park to take part in the Dead Drop Chocolate Run. This is an Easter Egg hunt with a difference – challenges, prizes, and chocolate will greet you along the way as you follow clues to find the rendezvous point where you’ll (hopefully!) find the Easter Bunny! Whether you walk or run, this will be the best Easter Egg hunt you’ve ever been on.

If you’re after something savoury to counteract all the sugar you’ll eat on the run, then take a short walk over to Heddon Street Kitchen, very near Green Park, for our seasonal Easter menu.

Easter Sunday Lunches

The Easter Sunday roast is a tradition that cannot be missed. It’s a great way to get the family together (or old friends) and enjoy spending time together safe in the knowledge that you can have another lay in in the morning (so cracking open that second bottle of red is absolutely fine…)

If you’re cooking this year, then check out our Easter recipes at the end of this article, or if you fancy all of the deliciousness with none of the washing up, then why not book a table at one of our restaurants? Maze Grill Mayfair will be putting on a tasty Sunday Lunch of 35-day aged rare breed beef, with all the trimmings. If you’re a vegan or vegetarian, then delight in the vegan nut roast, served at many of our restaurants. View all of our Easter options here.

Chocolate Shops

If one of the best things about Easter weekend is the Sunday roast, the other thing is being able to eat your body weight in chocolate and not feel (too) guilty about it. Chocolate will be taking centre stage in many of our Easter menus - including Petrus' showstopper dessert of chocolate, tonka bean, buckwheat, and dulce de leche. The following are some of London’s best chocolate shops to visit this Easter (you can thank us later).

Fortnum & Mason, London’s oldest Department Store, is fully decked out for Easter. On the ground floor, you’ll find their chocolatey treats with eggs ranging from the traditional milk and dark chocolate, to the more unusual rose and violet cream or caramel and lemon fondant.

Artisan du Chocolat, who make their chocolates from hand in the Kent countryside, have a beautiful Easter collection in their boutiques in Chelsea, and their concession stand at Selfridges. Salivate over their Easter Egg chests and smile at their fun Kentish coops and milk chocolate hedgehogs.

Dark Sugars in Brick Lane is a serious chocolate shop, with some serious flavours. Definitely one for the adult palette! You can smell the shop from up the street, and when you enter, you’ll see chocolates laid out like little treasures from wall to wall. Pick from fantastical flavours including stem ginger and honey truffle, cardamom and orange, Jamaican white rum, and gin and lime truffles.

Eggs Not made From Chocolate

If you’ve had more than your fill of chocolate Easter Eggs then head down to The Narrow in Limehouse for our new breakfast menu, available on Good Friday through to Easter Sunday. Enjoy generous servings of perfectly poached eggs Royale, Florentine, or Benedict, with lashings of hollandaise. The adult way to do Easter bank holiday brunch!
