York & Albany Launches New Wine Bar

Monday 8 February 2016

york and albany wine bar

Sample wines by the glass, bottle and tap at the newly opened Wine Bar at York & Albany. Carved into one of the converted stables of this 1820s coaching in, the rustic Wine Bar is a neighbourhood retreat complete with cobbled stones, wooden features and exposed brickwork.

Learn more about wine and try before you buy, with three wines on tap – a dry, rich Bacchus from Kingscote Vineyards, Sussex; a fruity white Grüner Veltliner from Huber, Austria; and an intense Terrasses Rouge (Grenache/Syrah), Chateau Pesquie, Ventoux.

Must-try wines by the bottle or glass include a Delicato First Press Chardonnay from the USA, a rich Argentinian Malbec and a distinct Spanish Rioja Reserva; as well as a crisp Réserve de Gassac Rosé from France.

Sip sweet wines, sherries and port while sampling cheese and charcuterie, or bring out chilled champagne and sparkling wine (including UK favourite Chapel Down) to turn quiet nights into special celebrations.

Accompany sipping with snacking in the shape of Head Chef Will Stanyer’s affordable small plates, including smoked aubergine and burnt onions; venison meatballs in tomato sauce; and chorizo croquettes. Treat yourself to charcuterie with a selection of coppa, saucisson andbresaola, all cut, cured and smoked in Islington, and a selection of British cheeses including Bosworth Ash, Berkswell, Brighton Blue and Tunworth.

Monthly drop-ins and ticketed events will also be hosted at the York & Albany Wine Bar, including masterclasses, workshops and talks discussing the latest in the wine industry and local British produce.
